How do you invest in yourself?
Published on Friday, 24. September 2021It's an important question to consider. When thinking about self-improvement single actions don't matter. Doing a single push-up, publishing a blog post, reading one book. They all become more valuable by repeating them. Doing a single push-up doesn't do anything for your fitness. Do 10 push-ups each day and you'll have a much greater chance at creating a workout habit that lasts. Reading one book is nice. Reading one book per week and you'll have an exceptional education.
One of the best ways to invest in yourself is to learn something new. One of the best things to learn about is decisionmaking. The ability to make great decisions is a meta-skill that will affect every part of your life.
Thinking about investments in yourself has two axes. Time and money. The time component is obvious. After all, learning something new takes time. Using money in the same way can be harder. Not long ago, I've been a student. Even though I never was poor, I couldn't spend my money mindlessly. I still want to invest and save as much money as possible. But it's the wrong way to think it. When I'll look back at it in 10 years, I'm sure I'' wish I hadn't saved that much money and worked a bit less instead, or spent it on myself. Every professional athlete has a coach. Why don't I?
